CALC-03

Demand pulse

Large outdoor demand, but no shortcut to local feasibility.

01

North America · Camping participation

More than 52 million households camped in 2025, with a stated $66 billion economic footprint.

The addressable outdoor-hospitality audience is broad, but this is not a glamping-only revenue figure.

S01
02

United States · Public-land visitation

323,014,305 recreation visits and 13,016,577 overnight stays were reported by the National Park Service for 2025.

Outdoor destination demand remains large. Park visitation does not measure private glamping occupancy.

S03
03

Canada · Domestic travel value

Domestic visits rose 2.3% year over year in Q1 2026 while spending rose 5.1%.

Spending grew 2.8 percentage points faster than visit count. Mix, trip length and inflation can all contribute.

S05
04

Canada · Inbound travel value

Inbound trips rose 3.5% year over year in Q1 2026 while spending rose 13.8%.

Spending grew 10.3 percentage points faster than trips. This supports deeper value research, not an ADR claim.

S05
05

Canada · Destination pressure

Banff reported a record 4.515 million visitors in 2025 and 292,033 frontcountry campground site nights; peak-summer campgrounds were fully booked.

Strong destination anchors can create compression, but nearby private supply still needs local demand and feasibility work.

Original calculations

The arithmetic is ours. The inputs stay traceable.

CALC-01

U.S. NPS overnight intensity

4.0 overnight stays per 100 recreation visits

13,016,577 overnight stays / 323,014,305 recreation visits x 100

Visits and overnight stays are activity counts, not unique guests or private-lodging demand.
CALC-02

Canada Q1 2026 value spread

+2.8 pp domestic; +10.3 pp inbound

Spending growth minus trip growth

A directional value signal only; it does not isolate glamping, price or profitability.

Only disclosed unit counts from the ten records below; unknown counts excluded

A mixed-stage minimum from a selected source scan, not a market-size estimate.

Verified project tracker

Ten signals, classified by evidence and stage.

This is a selected source scan, not a complete inventory. Unknown unit counts stay unknown and proposed projects are never presented as open.

Method and limits

Useful because the boundaries are visible.

A bounded open-source signal scan. It combines official tourism and outdoor-recreation indicators with a manually verified sample of operator and public-project announcements. It is not a census of the glamping market.

Confidence A means an official authority or operator provides the stated fact. B means an operator announcement requires future opening confirmation. C means a public plan or concept, not an operating property. Sources were checked on 2026-09-16.

The report does not estimate market size, occupancy, ADR, revenue, project viability or approval. It creates a reproducible research file for deciding what deserves deeper diligence.
