Direct answer
A glamping supplier directory becomes a marketplace when the platform can identify who is selling, show authorized product and commercial information, disclose how it is paid, and govern quotation, payment, delivery, cancellation, warranty and disputes.
UNIKOST currently treats supplier coverage as independent editorial discovery. A listing does not mean that UNIKOST represents the supplier, has verified availability, negotiated a price, approved a product for a site or can accept an order.
Name the service
Directory, catalogue, RFQ and checkout are different rooms.
An editorial directory cites public sources and sends the reader to the company. A qualified catalogue adds authorized, structured and dated supplier data. An RFQ channel collects a project brief and routes it under written terms. Marketplace checkout lets the buyer make a binding purchase or deposit.
These services can coexist, but the interface must not make the buyer infer protections the documents do not provide. The existing manufacturer directory remains an independent discovery surface.
Control the catalogue
Publication rights and update ownership come before price.
The seller or rights holder should authorize the names, descriptions, specifications, photographs, drawings, videos and marks used in a catalogue. The record also needs the legal company, seller role, exact product and revision, sales geography, scope, exclusions, price basis, production status, freight boundary, warranty issuer and update owner.
“Starting at” means little without a visible base configuration and exclusions. “Available” is not durable unless someone is responsible for refreshing it. The quote-scope guide separates a unit price from the complete project.
Assign the transaction
The agreement must say who owes the next action.
Before RFQ or checkout, identify the seller of record, invoice issuer, payment recipient, quotation owner and the parties responsible for tax, fraud review, changes, shipment promises, cancellation, refund, chargebacks, warranty and support. A generic partner label does not settle those roles.
PCI SSC says outsourced payment processing does not remove every merchant duty. Provider compliance, written responsibility agreements, monitoring and applicable validation still need owners. The payment-flow guide exposes money and record handoffs without deciding legal, tax or security obligations.
Seller verification also changes when a platform enables sales. FTC guidance for the INFORM Consumers Act describes collection, verification, disclosure and reporting duties for covered online marketplaces and high-volume third-party sellers. Whether a particular glamping transaction is covered depends on its products, customers, parties and payment flow.
Release checkout
Test the complete order, not the payment button.
A test order should prove seller identity, product revision, commercial terms, configuration and change control, payment and refund ownership, shipment status, cancellation, damage, rejection, warranty, complaints and retention. Missing gates can remain a clearly named directory, catalogue or RFQ channel.
Shipping language becomes an operational promise. The FTC order rule addresses reasonable shipment representations, delay notices, consent and refunds for covered orders. Large custom units also need a distinction between factory release, carrier movement and site arrival. See the delivery plan for the handoffs beyond the product card.
Reviews require their own policy. FTC guidance calls for transparent collection and moderation practices, while the Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule addresses fake and deceptive reviews. UNIKOST does not currently publish supplier star ratings.
Discovery boundary
A large show floor proves the value of discovery, not authority to sell.
The official Glamping Show Americas recap reported 169 exhibiting companies, 100 full-scale structures and a new Camp Store Zone at the 2026 event. That breadth is the discovery source for this article. It does not create commercial rights, verify products or authorize UNIKOST to quote, sell or represent an exhibitor.
The UNIKOST project calculator can organize the buyer information a future catalogue or RFQ needs. It does not quote a product, accept a deposit, verify a seller, calculate tax or create an approval.
FAQ
Common marketplace-boundary questions.
Is a glamping supplier directory a marketplace?
Not by itself. A directory supports discovery. A marketplace enables or governs transactions and needs clear seller roles, product rights, commercial terms, records and after-sale processes.
Does a request-for-quote form make UNIKOST the seller?
No. The page and agreements must identify who receives the request, prepares the quote, pays or receives any fee, and remains responsible for the product and transaction.
Can a marketplace show a starting price supplied by a manufacturer?
It can show authorized, current information with a clear configuration, currency, basis, major exclusions and date. It should not imply an installed-project price or verified availability when those facts are unknown.
Who should handle warranty claims in a glamping marketplace?
Buyer terms should name the warranty issuer and support route. The seller agreement should assign intake, diagnosis, parts, labor, travel, freight, escalation and record keeping.
Does hosted payment processing remove PCI DSS responsibility?
No. PCI SSC says outsourcing may reduce scope, but the merchant still has provider-selection, written-responsibility, monitoring and validation duties.
